I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is the oldest and the top medical university in Russia. The university was founded in 1758 as the medical faculty of Imperial Moscow University. It is the largest research medical school in Russia with more than 19000 students, 226 educational programs, 15 research institutes, 9 faculties, and 2148 faculty members.
Since it was considered as the First Medical school in Russia it was named as “I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Institute of Medicine” after Russian physiologist Ivan Sechenov in 1955. In 1990, the name was changed to “I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical Academy” until 2010. In 2010, the academy acquired full university status and changed its name to ” I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University” of Russia.

The faculty of medicine is one of the oldest, largest, and most respected faculties of the I.M. The campus of the I.M. Sechenov University was established in 1897 and was considered as one of the best campus with largest teaching hospitals in Europe. The campus of the university is located at Devichye Pole and considered as a historical medical campus in Moscow.
