Kursk State Medical University (KSMU) is one of the leading medical educational establishment in 1935 in Russia. More than 50 thousand doctors, pharmaceutics and other health professionals have been trained for its 86 years of existence. Currently, over nineteen thousand students are studying at the university, out of which seven thousand students are getting a higher education, about nine hundred students are secondary professional education, more than 600 residents and postgraduates, more than ten thousand specialists of public health and higher education.
In Kursk State Medical University, training is carried out under 35 specialties of residency, 350 programmes of professional retraining and professional development. Kursk State Medical University was the first university in Russia to offer full medical degree training in English Medium. Under the English medium, the university has the right to train specialists of Pre-medical course, Degree in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy (M.D/undergraduate) and Post-Graduate education.

The Medical faculty of the Kursk State Medical University was founded by the Council of People’s Commissars on 9 February 1935 on the opening of the medical institute in Kursk. Over 20,000 physicians have been trained at the Medical faculty for 85 years. Many of the faculty’s graduates are currently candidates and doctors of sciences, honored physicians, well-known scientists, and organizers in health.
Kursk State Medical University (KSMU) offers a general medicine program to local as well as international students. The medical degree is designed in a way to meet the General Medical Council’s expectations and International standards. The MBBS Program is of 6 years and the graduates will receive a Degree in General Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, Physician in General Medicine which is equivalent to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. The program is a platform for training students to become qualified physicians focused on practicing and developing medicine. Standardized patients in clinics and hospitals are used to teach medical students and resident’s ability to communicate with patients, to take patient histories, and determine diagnosis and treatment under the watch and guidance of professional doctors and departmental heads.
The main aim of this program is to build research facilities within the campus, provide a world-class infrastructure and academic environment to all students and ensure the sustained development and expansion of medical research of current challenges and future benefits. Entrance Exam at Kursk State Medical University
Medical aspirants who want to pursue MBBS from the university under the faculty of “General Medicine” are enrolled in Kursk State Medical University based on entrance exam. The entrance exam is a MCQ based exam taken offline after reaching the university in Russia. The exam is based on the basic science syllabus of 11th and 12th subjects like Chemistry and Biology. The exam is taken to test students’ knowledge before starting the main subjects of Biochemistry, Anatomy and Physiology. Students do not need to prepare separately or learn new things for this exam as this is basic science that students pass during their 12th boards.
