RUDN (because of its Russian name – Rossiysky Universitet Druzhby Narodov) was established on 5th February, 1960 by the USSR Government. RUDN was renamed after Patrice Lumumba (One of the symbols of the African people’s fight for independence) on 22nd February, 1961.
The University was well-known to be free education for learning, teaching and research activities without any political issues, firmly standing on the principles of friendship and mutual support which is why it was renamed again on its 32nd anniversary – 5th February,1992 as People’s Friendship University of Russia. Since then, RUDN is famous as People’s Friendship University of Russia.
People’s Friendship University completed its 60th anniversary on 2020 and continues to mark its legacy in the world. Regardless of its popularity and the ranking, People’s Friendship University (RUDN), continues to firmly stand united on its basic rules and common values. MBBS faculty in People’s Friendship University was founded in 1960 and currently, approximately 2,500 students are studying under 43 departments and 2 independent courses of Faculty of medicine.
This faculty is one of the largest faculty of the university with 420 lecturers including 5 academicians, 2 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of medical sciences, 24 academicians and members of social academics, 15 honored scientists of the Russian Federation, 3 laureates of RF State Prizes, 2 laureates of government State Prizes, 132 full professors and 220 PhDs.
Not only in Russia, but the faculty of general medicine has a reputed name and respect all over the world. Students from 160 countries come to People’s friendship University under this faculty and more than 6400 graduates who passed are currently working in 110 countries of the world. University Hospitals and Buildings
The People’s Friendship University campus consists of 20 teaching blocks. All the blocks are located on Mikluho-Maklaya Street. Students have classes in blocks and the best thing of having all the blocks situated next to one-another is that students do not need to travel anywhere outside the campus unless they want to. The University has associations with 160 clinics around the city and there are 12 teaching hospitals associated with the university for students to learn and practice medicine. The People’s Friendship University campus has 2000 CCTV ensuring the safety of all students.
In 2013, People’s Friendship University won the best campus award of Russia. People’s Friendship University primarily aims in giving each and every student proper clinical experience and knowledge.

The Sports Complex of People’s Friendship of Russia includes a 300-seat football and baseball stadium in nature’s lawn, a hockey box, 2 game halls of 680 square meters each, 2 long jump pits, 4400-meter runways, a 200-meter indoor track, 6 halls of 640 square meters each, an aerobics hall, 2 Gyms (men and women separate) and 15 tennis courts, 2 basketballs court, 1 volleyball court.
Students can visit, relax and enjoy in different cafes located on the university campus that have cuisines from all over the world such as Indian, American, Chinese, African, Arabian, and of course Russian.
University Hostels
People’s Friendship University has 14 hostels. Each hostel has 1-8 blocks of the toilet, washbasin and kitchen with inductions are on each floor. The ground floor is filled with shower cabins, laundry, ironing rooms and a luggage room for students to keep luggage during holidays and vacations. In five-story buildings and all rooms inside the building are designed for 2 to 3 people. Some rooms are built with all modern accommodations like double superior rooms with an improved layout, bathroom, refrigerator and possibility of connecting additional household appliances in agreement with the university.
Other than hostels, the campus of People’s Friendship University has 7 high-rise towers which are apartment dormitories. The apartments are designed for a comfortable stay of two or three people and has a bathroom and toilet. Apartments are with one to four rooms and have kitchen on each block. All the towers are equipped with elevators.
More than 8000 students and PhD candidates live in the hostel rooms or tower apartments with all accommodations. Fire protection and 247 CCTV monitoring system that ensure safety of all students inside the territory of the University.

Eligibility Criteria
Any student who wishes to pursue his/her MBBS from People’s Friendship University of Russia must fulfill the following requirements to be eligible to get admission in this university.

Entrance Exam at People’s Friendship University
Students who wish to pursue their MBBS from People’s Friendship University have to pass an entrance exam of the university. This entrance exam is based on Chemistry and Biology of the 11th and 12th syllabus. It tests the pre-medical knowledge of all students and it is an MCQ-based exam with passing marks of 55/100. All students must pass this exam to enter People’s Friendship University of Russia faculty of medicine.
